- Cooking, smoking, and preparing our range of sausages, smoked meats, and smallgoods according to precise recipes and methods.
- Assisting in product development—following established recipes and contributing creative ideas for new products.
- Upholding impeccable food safety, hygiene, and quality control standards throughout the production process.
- Managing related paperwork, including batch records, costing sheets, and inventory tracking.
- Working collaboratively with our butchery team in a busy wholesale environment, maintaining a clean and organised workspace.
- Operating production equipment and working comfortably in cool room environments.
Qualifications
We are looking for a practical and detail-oriented professional with the following:
- A formal Chef qualification or equivalent hands-on experience in a commercial kitchen or food production setting.
- Experience with smoking, curing, or drying meats is a significant advantage.
- A rock-solid understanding of and commitment to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage production paperwork.
- The physical ability to work on your feet in a production environment and comfort working around butchery tools.
- A proactive team spirit, a positive attitude, and a genuine interest in artisanal food production.
Experience in a butchery or smallgoods environment is a bonus, but a fantastic attitude and a willingness to learn are most important.
Benefits and Perks
This role offers a fantastic entry point into specialised food production with a growing company. We provide:
- Flexible part-time hours (20–30 per week) to suit the right candidate.
- A competitive hourly rate between $25.00 and $30.00.
- Genuine hands-on involvement in product development and the opportunity to contribute your culinary creativity.
- A supportive, skilled team with high standards and good camaraderie.
- The potential for the role to grow into a full-time position in the future as our business expands.
