Key Responsibilities
As an HVAC Controls Technician with our federal team, you will be entrusted with maintaining and optimizing sophisticated control systems. Your key duties will include:
- Performing preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of HVAC controls systems and building automation networks.
- Diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in a variety of digital and electronic control systems, with a strong focus on Johnson Controls Metasys®.
- Testing and modifying system software as required and assisting with field documentation for engineering updates.
- Providing expert training and documentation to customers on system operations.
- Supporting mechanical staff with integrated system troubleshooting.
- Ensuring all work complies with company standards, customer requirements, and federal regulations.
- Compiling accurate project documentation, including completion certificates and punch lists.
- Adhering to and promoting the highest standards of safety on all work sites.
Qualifications
We are looking for a technician with a solid foundation in controls and a commitment to continuous learning. The requirements are:
- Proven experience working with commercial/industrial HVAC mechanical equipment, building automation systems, or MEP systems.
- Knowledge of electronic/digital controls systems and facility management systems.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a required federal security clearance, which includes comprehensive background checks.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to operate a company vehicle.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience commissioning, troubleshooting, or programming Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems; proficiency with Johnson Controls Metasys® is highly desired.
- Familiarity with communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LON.
- Experience using Johnson Controls software tools (SMP, SCT, CCT).
- Control system design experience or the ability to program from engineering sequences.
- A technical degree or Associate’s degree in HVAC, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred.
