Key Responsibilities
As a Laundry Aide, you will provide an essential service that supports our home’s daily operations and resident care. Your primary duties will include:
- Picking up, sorting, and processing soiled linen and resident clothing according to established schedules and fabric care requirements.
- Loading and unloading commercial washers and dryers, ensuring proper operation and timing for different types of laundry loads.
- Folding, ironing, and neatly placing clean articles on shelves or loading them onto carts for distribution to resident areas.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and organized laundry work area, including routine tasks like removing lint from dryer filters.
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the Manager of Building Services or other management staff.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following:
- A Secondary School Diploma is required.
- Previous experience in a housekeeping or laundry role, preferably in a healthcare, hospitality, or institutional setting.
- Must be fluent in both oral and written English to understand instructions and communicate effectively.
- The physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including frequent standing, bending, lifting, and moving heavy laundry carts.
- Flexibility and availability to work all assigned shifts, which will include every other weekend and potentially midnight shifts.
- A reliable, caring, and team-oriented attitude.
