Key Responsibilities
Laundry Duties
- Operate commercial washing machines, dryers, and finishing equipment according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Sort, process, wash, dry, fold, and distribute linens, personal clothing, and facility textiles.
- Inspect items for stains, damage, or excessive wear, setting aside those requiring special attention, repair, or replacement.
- Maintain accurate inventory of clean and soiled linens, communicating replenishment needs to supervisors.
- Keep laundry work areas, equipment, and storage spaces clean, organized, and sanitary.
Cleaning Duties
- Perform general cleaning duties throughout the facility, including floors, surfaces, fixtures, and common areas.
- Empty waste receptacles and dispose of garbage in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supply closets in clean, safe, organized condition.
- Follow all infection control and health safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and chemical handling procedures.
General Responsibilities
- Organize and prioritize daily tasks to complete assigned workloads efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and facility staff.
- Work independently with minimal supervision once trained.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or supply shortages promptly.
- Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Grade 10 completion or equivalent.
- One year of recent, related experience in a commercial or industrial laundry.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in English.
- Ability to deal with others professionally and courteously, including residents, patients, guests, and team members.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position, including standing for extended periods, lifting, bending, and manoeuvring laundry carts weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate related laundry and cleaning equipment safely and competently.
- Ability to organize work, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively with minimal supervision.
