Universal Rail Solutions Ltd. is looking for Operators to join our team across various sites in Canada. This is a full-time, seasonal role working on railway construction and maintenance operating equipment like excavators, spikers, speed swings, loaders, and backhoes. If you have at least six months of railway or construction experience, a Class 5 Driver’s License, and you’re ready to travel and work cycles, this could be the right fit. What You’ll Be Doing
- Operating specialized railway equipment:Â You’ll run machines like spikers, speed swings, loaders, backhoes, and excavators on railway tracks and adjacent areas, following operator manuals and safety standards.
- Performing daily inspections:Â You’ll do walk-around checks and minor repairs to keep machines safe and operational.
- Completing documentation:Â You’ll fill out log books, job briefings, and other required paperwork.
- Following safety protocols:Â You’ll comply with CROR standards and company safety policies at all times.
- Assisting with manual labour:Â When needed, you’ll pitch in with physical tasks to keep the job moving.
- Communicating over radio:Â You’ll work with the team using clear radio communication to meet productivity goals.
- Taking on other duties: Additional tasks as assigned—flexibility is key.
What You’ll Need
- Minimum 6 months experience in railway or construction this is essential.
- At least one season as a machine operator you need proven experience running equipment.
- Class 5 Driver’s License required (Class 1 for boom truck operation).
- Basic mechanical aptitude you should be comfortable with equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as part of manual labour tasks.
- Safety certifications are an asset (First Aid, Fall Arrest, GEI, Forklift Loader, etc.). If you don’t have them, we’ll train you.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills you need to work well with others and communicate clearly over radio.
- Commitment to safety at all times this is non-negotiable.
- Ability to work cycles, night shifts, and travel as required.
- No degree mentioned your experience matters most.
