Palmetto Corp. is seeking a Lowboy Driver to safely transport construction equipment between job sites using a lowboy trailer. You’ll be responsible for loading, securing, and unloading heavy equipment, conducting daily vehicle inspections, and maintaining compliance with DOT safety standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Load and Unload Construction Equipment: You’ll be responsible for safely loading various types of heavy equipment onto your lowboy trailer and unloading them at job sites.
  • Transport Equipment Safely: Drive between job sites, ensuring equipment arrives on time and in the same condition it left.
  • Secure Loads to DOT Standards: Properly secure all loads using chains, binders, and other equipment in accordance with DOT safety regulations.
  • Perform Daily Vehicle Inspections: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to check for mechanical or safety issues, and report any concerns promptly.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Keep detailed records of deliveries, inspections, and hours of service as required.
  • Comply with All Regulations: Follow all federal, state, and local driving laws and regulations without exception.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow Safety Protocols: Adhere to OSHA, DOT, and company safety protocols at all times. Safety isn’t optional.
  • Maintain Valid CDL and Medical Card: You must keep your Class A CDL and current medical card up to date.
  • Report Concerns Immediately: If you notice any safety or mechanical issues, report them to the Trucking Foreman right away.

Position Requirements

Required:

  • Class A CDL: You must hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Clean 10 Year MVR: Your driving record must be clean for the past 10 years.

Preferred:

  • 5 Years Commercial Driving Experience: Significant experience behind the wheel is highly valued.
  • 1+ Year Lowboy Trailer Experience: Experience hauling lowboy trailers specifically is a major plus.
  • 5 Years Clean Driving History: A consistent record of safe driving over the past five years.
