Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial input to the assessment and development of new business pursuit strategies, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Review contractual instruments and apply Service Stream’s risk profile to evaluate opportunity suitability, identifying key risks and opportunities.
- Coordinate and lead opportunity and risk assessments, facilitating cross functional input to inform decision making.
- Model and analyze commercial frameworks, applying sensitivity analysis to forecast contractual performance and financial outcomes.
- Identify risk mitigation strategies and develop opportunity capitalization plans to maximize value.
- Prepare commercial tender responses and participate in the governance and assurance review process.
- Lead commercial negotiations and collaborate with legal teams to finalize contractual instruments.
- Provide commercial input into rights and obligations handover to project delivery teams, ensuring a seamless transition.
- Facilitate structured handover of contract, subcontracts, and project control tools to project delivery teams.
- Support contract risk control and assurance activities through commercial reporting and audit reviews.
- Lead margin and contract performance reviews, identifying areas for improvement and driving corrective actions.
- Respond to project team escalations concerning contract interpretation or commercial performance queries.
- Support contractual dispute process escalations and manage disputes, interfacing with internal and external legal counsel as needed.
- Champion the implementation of structured commercial management practices across the Utilities Division.
- Support the embedding of Service Stream project controls, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
- Respond to queries pertaining to delegated authorities, procurement, and contract interpretation.
- Collate and manage commercial reporting data and analysis, providing insights to support decision making.
Qualifications
A tertiary qualification in law and business or commerce is required. Candidates must have a minimum of three years of experience in a similar commercial role. Knowledge of and direct exposure to tier one contractor risk and governance frameworks is essential. Direct exposure to broad contracting models and model contract terms is required. Utilities and power generation sector knowledge is highly valued. Experience in preparing executive and board level reports, briefs, and memorandums of advice is essential. Competencies required include autonomous contract review and risk assessment, drafting and interpretation of contractual terms and associated correspondence, construction project financial modeling, analysis and reporting, contractual claims analysis and management, and preparation of discovery dossiers and legal briefs.
