Key Responsibilities
- Manufacture and reclaim hydraulic components using manual lathes, horizontal and vertical borers, and cylindrical grinders.
- Operate CNC lathes and horizontal and vertical borers running Fanuc controllers to produce high quality parts.
- Read and interpret complex engineering and CAD drawings to ensure jobs are produced to exact specifications.
- Conduct in process quality checks using micrometers and other precision measuring tools, maintaining tight tolerances.
- Collaborate in a team environment with experienced tradespeople across machining, fabrication, fitting, and plating.
- Take responsibility for maintaining and improving a safe working environment, following all policies, procedures, and safe work instructions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and uphold the company’s reputation for quality workmanship.
Qualifications
A trade qualification as a Machinist is essential. Candidates must have the ability to machine to tight tolerances with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship. A safety first mindset is critical. Willingness to learn, contribute, and be part of a tight knit team is important. Experience with hydraulic components is advantageous but not essential. A strong work ethic and reliability are key.
Benefits and Perks
This permanent role offers competitive pay with an hourly rate ranging from AUD 45.51 to AUD 51.09 per hour, plus a 24 percent shift loading for afternoon shifts starting at 2:30 pm. Annual pay rises are provided as per the enterprise agreement. Income protection is provided. Regular overtime is available with a great work life balance, paid at time and a half for the first two hours and double time thereafter. The company has a strong history of training and upskilling its workforce. The family friendly environment includes an active social club and half day Fridays. This is a permanent position with long term stability within the Sime industrial group.
