Key Responsibilities

As the resident housekeeper, you will ensure the seamless operation of the household with a blend of practical management and gracious hospitality. Your primary duties will include:

• Overseeing the daily rhythm of the home, supervising other residents and coordinating with visiting tradespeople as needed.
• Providing a warm, friendly, and helpful welcome to all guests, ensuring their comfort during their stay.
• Managing all housekeeping, including shopping, cleaning, cooking, and food preparation, either personally or by delegating to and supervising other residents.
• Caring for the owners’ laundry and assisting with the welfare of the family dogs.
• Performing or arranging minor household maintenance and tending to the gardening and driveway upkeep.
• Working weekends and public holidays as required, with the ability to roster other staff.
• Driving and providing chauffeur services for the owner on occasion, using your own NZ driver’s licence.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a person of integrity and good humour who sees this as a lifestyle opportunity. You will have:

• A professional and discreet demeanour, complemented by a genuine sense of humour and a calm, capable approach.
• The ability to take direction from the House Manager and Owner, and to confidently direct and work alongside a small household team.
• A valid New Zealand driver’s licence and a clean driving record.
• The legal right to work in New Zealand.
• An appreciation for or keen interest in areas such as NZ art, classical music, film, culture, gardening, or cooking.
• The suitability to live on-site full-time, treating the house as your own home and dining with the household team.
