About Boric Orchards

We are a family-run orchard, deeply rooted in our local community. As a small-scale operation, we take great pride in growing and supplying premium stonefruit, pipfruit, and citrus to local markets and fruit shops across Auckland. When you join our team, you become part of our family’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and supporting the local food chain. It’s a place where your work is visible and valued, from the field to the fruit bowl.

Your Role Throughout the Season

Your tasks will change with the seasons, offering variety and a full understanding of orchard operations:

  • During the harvest, you will be selectively picking various fruits based on ripeness and size, performing careful hand-grading in the field to ensure only the best quality produce is selected.
  • You will handle fruit with care to minimise bruising and damage, ensuring it reaches our customers in perfect condition.
  • Following the harvest season, work will transition to essential orchard maintenance tasks such as pruning, thinning, and general upkeep to prepare for the next growing cycle.
  • You will be expected to follow all health, safety, and biosecurity protocols to protect both yourself and our crops.

The Skills and Experience We Value

While we value a positive attitude and willingness to learn above all, the following experience is beneficial:

  • Previous experience in horticulture, orchard work, farming, or other physically demanding outdoor roles is ideal.
  • Some machinery experience, such as tractor operation or using elevated lift platforms, would be a strong advantage.
  • A current forklift license and GROWSAFE certification are not required initially but are viewed very favourably for long-term work.
  • Most importantly, we need someone who is physically fit, reliable, has a keen eye for detail, and can work effectively both independently and as part of our small team.

What We Offer

This is more than just a seasonal job; it’s an opportunity to be part of a local legacy.

  • The chance to work outdoors in a beautiful, productive environment.
  • Varied, meaningful work that connects you directly to local food production.
  • A supportive, family-oriented work culture where you are treated with respect.
  • The potential for ongoing seasonal work and skill development for the right candidate.
  • Competitive hourly wages commensurate with experience.
  • $25 – $28 per hour

 How to Apply

If the idea of working with a family orchard and contributing to Auckland’s local food supply appeals to you, we would love to hear from you. Please send a brief message outlining your experience and availability, along with your CV, to our team.

Boric Orchards is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand. We thank all applicants for their interest and will be in touch with those we wish to interview.
