About the Role and Council

This is a vital frontline role within our Waste and Stormwater team, based at the Alan Turner Depot in Wagga Wagga. You will be responsible for the hands-on maintenance of the city’s critical sewer, stormwater, and flood mitigation infrastructure. Your Key Responsibilities

You will be out in the field every day, ensuring our infrastructure is operational and resilient. Your core duties will include:

  • Performing sewer and stormwater maintenance, including choke clearing, jetting, rodding, and pipe cleaning.
  • Conducting general labouring tasks, service location, and assisting with pipe laying and rehabilitation works.
  • Maintaining levee banks and flood gates as part of our flood mitigation efforts.
  • Operating council plant and equipment as required (training provided).
  • Undertaking traffic management duties to ensure safe worksites.
  • Adhering to the highest standards of Work Health and Safety in all tasks.
  • Participating in an on-call roster to respond to after-hours emergencies.

 What You Need to Succeed

We are looking for a reliable individual with the right tickets and attitude. The essentials are:

  • A current Class C Driver’s Licence (an MR licence is desirable).
  • A valid General Construction Induction Training Card (White Card).
  • Demonstrated experience as a labourer; experience in pipe laying and repairs is highly desirable.
  • A genuine and proactive commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a close-knit team.
  • Reliability and a willingness to participate in the on-call roster.
  • Pre-employment vaccinations are required for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Q-Fever (evidence must be provided).
