Key Responsibilities

You’ll be at the forefront of our field operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest standard. Your key duties will include:

  • Leading and coordinating a field team through daily onsite activities, ensuring all PowerCo standards are met or exceeded.
  • Taking project handovers from our design and estimating team, providing practical input during the planning phase to set your team up for success.
  • Performing maintenance, repairs, and asset replacements on both overhead and underground distribution networks.
  • Installing a range of equipment including underground reticulation, cables, transformers, and switchgear, as well as replacing poles and crossarms.
  • Conducting and documenting all necessary electrical testing in full compliance with regulations and codes of practice.
  • Managing jobs efficiently within allocated man-hours and material budgets.
  • Playing an active role in training and guiding apprentices, helping to develop the next generation of tradespeople.
  • Maintaining clear, proactive communication about any project delays, resource issues, or potential safety concerns.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you’ll need a solid foundation of experience and the right attitude. The essentials we’re looking for are:

  • A valid NZQA Level 4 Electrical qualification and a full driver’s licence (Class 2 is a strong advantage).
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience working on a distribution network.
  • A proven aptitude for network distribution work, backed by sound knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices.
  • The ability to read and interpret plans, schematics, and construction standards with ease.
  • A natural leadership ability, with a methodical approach and a strong customer and safety focus.
