We are seeking reliable and physically fit individuals to join our family-run team. This role offers a genuine connection to the land and the local community, providing the opportunity to cultivate, harvest, and maintain the trees that produce Auckland’s favourite fruit. If you’re ready for a rewarding outdoor challenge, we encourage you to apply.

About Us: Boric Orchards

Boric Orchards is a proud, family-owned and operated business nestled in the Auckland region. We are a small-scale orchard with a big focus on quality, specialising in growing premium stonefruit, pipfruit, and citrus. Our fruit is supplied directly to local markets and fruit shops, connecting our labour with our neighbours’ tables. Working with us means contributing to a sustainable, local food system and becoming part of a close-knit team that values integrity and hard work.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

Your role will be dynamic, shifting with the seasons and the needs of the orchard:

  • You will be selectively picking fruit based on precise ripeness and size specifications, performing essential hand-grading in the field to ensure top quality.
  • After picking, the role transitions to vital orchard tasks including pruning, thinning, and general property upkeep to ensure tree health and productivity for future seasons.
  • Handling all produce with care to prevent damage and maintain freshness from the tree through to packing.
  •  Adhering strictly to all orchard safety protocols, biosecurity measures, and operational procedures.

Qualifications And Experience

While full training for specific tasks will be provided, the following will help you succeed:

  • A strong work ethic, reliability, and the physical capability to perform demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • A keen eye for detail, essential for selective picking and quality control.
  • The ability to work well both independently on assigned tasks and cooperatively as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in horticulture, viticulture, farming, or a similar outdoor role is highly advantageous.
  • Experience operating orchard machinery (e.g., tractors, elevated platforms) is a significant plus.
  • A current forklift license and/or GROWSAFE certification are beneficial but not mandatory for the right candidate.

 What We Provide

Joining Boric Orchards means more than just a seasonal position. We offer:

  • A competitive hourly wage paid $25 – $28 per hour in line with your experience and capability.
  • The opportunity for consistent seasonal work and the potential for role progression.
