Key Responsibilities
In this comprehensive baking role, you will be involved in the entire production process. Your key duties will include:
- Baking a diverse range of items including different breads, muffins, slices, donuts, pies, pastries, and desserts within set timeframes.
- Preparing pastry fillings, custards, sauces, and chocolates, with specific responsibility for handling seafood and meat ingredients safely and knowledgeably.
- Measuring and mixing ingredients, then kneading, rolling, and shaping doughs and pastries with precision.
- Icing, decorating, and finishing products to a high standard for display and sale.
- Checking the quality of all raw ingredients, ordering supplies, and maintaining all baking equipment in a clean, greased, and operational condition.
- Serving customers in a friendly, outgoing manner and preparing custom orders.
- Rigorously following all food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures at every stage.
Qualifications
We are looking for qualified professionals with proven hands-on experience. To be eligible, you must have:
- At least three years of relevant experience as a Baker or Pastry Cook in a commercial bakery setting, OR a New Zealand Level 4 qualification in Baking plus one year of experience.
- Practical competency in handling seafood and meat, including the knowledge to identify spoilage.
- Excellent hand-to-eye coordination, clear communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A positive work attitude, reliability, and the ability to follow a roster, starting and finishing on time.
- The right to work in New Zealand (NZ residency, citizenship, or a valid work visa).
- While not mandatory, prior New Zealand baking experience is preferred.

- A competitive hourly rate between $30.00 and $35.00, depending on experience.
- Guaranteed minimum hours of 30 per week, with the potential for up to 50 hours during busy periods.
