Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of maintenance on offshore wind turbines. A typical day involves a mix of pre-planned and reactive tasks, requiring both physical stamina and sharp technical skills.
- Execute routine preventative tasks and respond to unplanned repairs on turbine mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to maximize uptime.
- Climb turbine towers to inspect critical components like blades, gearboxes, and generators for wear, cracks, or damage. Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot faults and implement effective repairs.
- Safely assist in the replacement of major turbine components and participate in the commissioning of new turbines.
- Keep detailed service logs, record inspection findings, and document parts usage to support data-driven maintenance planning.
- Adhere to the highest safety protocols while working at heights in all weather conditions. Collaborate effectively with marine crews and other technicians to coordinate complex logistics and emergency response procedures
Qualifications
We are looking for a technician who brings a solid foundation and a readiness to learn in a demanding field.
- A technical background in mechanical, electrical, or mechatronic systems is required. A Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field is a plus.
- Practical experience with industrial equipment, hydraulics, and working with power tools is essential.
- Familiarity with wind turbine components, maintenance procedures, and relevant industry standards is a strong advantage.
- The role demands excellent physical fitness for climbing 250+ foot towers multiple times a day while carrying gear.
- You must possess strong problem-solving skills, clear communication abilities, and a commitment to working safely and collaboratively in a diverse offshore environment.
- A valid driver’s license is required. A Level B Electrician certification or relevant Global Wind Organisation (GWO) training (e.g., Sea Survival, Tower Rescue) is highly preferred.
