Key Responsibilities
As a Technician Trainee, you will undergo a structured training programme. Your duties during the training will include:
- Undertaking systematic on-the-job training and practical assignments in your chosen technical discipline under the guidance of experienced professionals.
- Attending formal technical classes and workshops to build theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
- Assisting in the operation, maintenance, and project work related to government electrical, mechanical, and related systems.
- Applying learned skills to support departmental objectives in ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Completing all assessments and training modules as required by the scheme.
Qualifications
The scheme offers multiple entry points. You must meet the specific requirements for one of the following streams (summarized):
- Technician Trainee I (2-year programme): Completed a relevant Higher Diploma (or completed the first year of a 2-year programme in 2026) AND Level 2 in Chinese and English (HKDSEE/HKCEE).
- Technician Trainee I (3-year programme): HKDSEE Level 2 in Maths + 4 other subjects (2019+) OR a full-time Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) in a relevant trade, AND Level 2 in Chinese & English.
- Technician Trainee II (2-year programme): Completed the first year of a 3-year full-time DVE programme in a relevant trade in 2026, with Chinese and English proficiency equivalent to Secondary 3.
- Technician Trainee II (3-year programme): Completed Secondary 6 (2019+) OR the first year of a 3-year DVE in a relevant trade, with Chinese & English proficiency equivalent to Secondary 3.
