 Key Responsibilities

You will be tasked with the most demanding welding work, adhering to strict military specifications that leave no room for error.

Your core duties will include:

  • Performing high-integrity welding (SMAW, FCAW, GTAW) on structural steel, stainless steel, carbon steel, and 5XXX Aluminum in all positions, both aboard vessels and in shop environments.
  • Obtaining and maintaining critical welding certifications, including SMAW plate and pipe, and GTAW pipe, to military standards.
  • Interpreting complex NAVSEA drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols per Military Standard 22-D.
  • Operating and maintaining fabrication machinery and performing precise measurements to ensure all work meets exact specifications.
  • Conducting thorough inspections of your work for defects, ensuring every weld passes rigorous quality and non-destructive testing (NDT) standards.

Qualifications

This role has non-negotiable requirements due to the sensitive and critical nature of the work.

  • A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional welding experience.
  •  Must pass a hands-on practical test on SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P (5XXX Aluminum) via x-ray NDT.
  • Ability to interpret NAVSEA drawings and work with military standards like MIL-STD-1689.
  • The ability to obtain a DBIDS credential-Government clearance to board U.S. Navy vessels.
  • Physical capability to work at heights, in confined spaces, climb ladders, and carry a 50 lb. tool bag while wearing a respirator.
